MHSFF Participant Rights & Community Guidelines
At Mental Health Support For Families (MHSFF), we want every participant to feel safe, respected, heard, valued, and supported. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where individuals and families can participate without stigma, discrimination, or judgment.
Your Rights
As an MHSFF participant, you have the right to:
- Be treated with respect, dignity, kindness, and compassion.
- Participate in a safe and welcoming environment.
- Ask questions about our programs, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Understand how your information may be used or shared.
- Choose whether to participate in voluntary activities.
- Share only what you are comfortable sharing, within applicable legal and safety requirements.
- Express concerns or provide feedback without fear of retaliation.
- Learn about available programs, resources, and support.
- Have your personal boundaries, choices, and individual differences respected.
Your Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. MHSFF will make reasonable efforts to protect your personal information and limit access to people who have a legitimate reason to have it.
Please remember: Confidentiality has legal and safety limits. Information may need to be shared when required by law or when necessary to address a serious safety concern.
Online & Private Groups
MHSFF may offer private online communities strictly for individuals who participate in our programs. Please respect everyone’s privacy.
Do not screenshot, record, copy, or share another participant’s conversations, photographs, personal information, or other content outside the group without permission.
Because social media platforms are operated by third parties, complete privacy cannot be guaranteed. Please think carefully about what personal information you choose to share online.
Our Community Guidelines
We ask everyone who participates in MHSFF programs to:
- Treat others with kindness and respect.
- Respect personal boundaries and differences.
- Protect other participants’ privacy.
- Communicate respectfully, even when disagreements occur.
- Refrain from bullying, harassment, discrimination, threats, intimidation, or stigmatizing behavior.
- Avoid violence or behavior that could make others feel unsafe.
- Follow reasonable program guidelines and staff direction.
- Bring concerns forward in a respectful, good-faith manner.
MHSFF may take appropriate action when behavior creates an unsafe or harmful environment. This may include setting boundaries, creating a safety plan, limiting participation, or ending participation when necessary to protect participants and others.
